How we collect, use, and protect information on UkulhasMaldives.com.

Who we are

UkulhasMaldives.com is an independent travel guide for Ukulhas Island, Maldives. We are not a booking platform, travel agency, or tour operator. This policy applies to all visitors of ukulhasmaldives.com.

What information we collect

Information you provide directly

Hotel enquiry forms. When you submit an enquiry through a hotel listing page, we collect your name, email address, message, consent timestamp, and the page you submitted from. We store this information for UkulhasMaldives.com manual follow-up. We do not currently automatically forward enquiries to properties.
Email signups. When you submit the email signup form, your email address is captured by our form provider (Netlify Forms). We store a hashed (SHA-256) version of your email address for analytics purposes only. No email delivery system is currently in place; we do not send guide content or newsletters via email at this time.

Information collected automatically

Analytics data. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on site, referral source). This data is aggregated and not used to identify individual visitors.
Commercial events. When you click an affiliate booking link or submit an enquiry, we record an anonymised commercial event (event type, page, timestamp) for revenue analysis. This does not include personal data.
Session identifiers. We use a browser session storage identifier to connect related actions within a single visit. This identifier is stored only in your browser and is not tied to your identity.
Cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Affiliate partner sites may set their own cookies when you click through to their website — that is governed by their own privacy policies.

How we use your information

To review hotel enquiries and provide manual follow-up where appropriate
To record email signups (Netlify Forms) and store a hashed email for analytics
To analyse site usage and improve content quality
To track affiliate revenue so we can keep the guide free to use

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third parties.

Third-party sharing

We share information with third parties only in these limited circumstances:

Property teams. We do not currently automatically forward hotel enquiries to properties. If a verified recipient-routing workflow is introduced, this policy and the enquiry consent language will be updated before any sharing occurs.
Affiliate partners. When you click an affiliate booking link, you are redirected to a partner website. The partner may collect data according to their own privacy policy. We do not control how they use your data.
Service providers. We use Netlify for hosting and analytics. Their data processing is governed by their own privacy commitments.

Data retention

Enquiry form submissions are retained only as long as needed for manual follow-up and operational review. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised. Email addresses submitted via the signup form are stored as form submissions by Netlify. No email delivery or opt-out workflow is currently in place.

Your rights

You have rights regarding personal data we hold about you, including access, correction, and deletion. Because we do not maintain user accounts, no login-based data dashboard exists. A public privacy-request channel is not currently available. This policy will be updated when one is in place.

Children

UkulhasMaldives.com is a general-audience travel guide. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 through enquiry forms or email signups.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
